A Touch of Balance is a place to come and relax, rejuvenate, and heal. It is a place where you can feel safe to release tension from the past week and receive ongoing care for chronic aches and pains. I am registered massage therapist and a member in goodstanding with College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland (CMTNL) and Newfoundland Labrador Massage Therapist Association (NLMTA).
Massage and What to Expect
Anticipate coming into an environment where you will feel safe to express any concerns you may have about the treatment. I encourage open communication throughout the entire treatment to ensure the treatment is safe and effective. Consent will be required and can be stopped or modified at your request at any time. It is essential that if you feel your health is being compromised at any point that you express yourself.
Prior to the treatment
A confidential client health history form will be filled out prior to treatment. An assessment will follow and a personalized treatment plan will be formulated in order to ensure the best results. The assessment usually takes about 15 mins and is included in your first visit. If you would like to fill out the forms ahead of time.
Client History Form
Paperless option. Save it as a PDF and email it back to me. Or feel free to print and bring in.
Please fill out this mandatory Covid-19 Survey no more than 24 hours and not less than 2 hrs prior to your appointment.
During the Treatment
Many people ask what is expected from themselves. This can vary depending on what results you are expecting from the treatment. If relaxation is the goal, your only concern should be to relax and let go but if pain relief is of interest you should expect some physical participation throughout the session. Sometimes in order to treat a specific condition I may need to get you to resist pressure or move a limb in a certain direction. I often use essential oils in the treatment and my home is not a scent free environment. If you have sensitivities to scents please discuss prior to arriving and I will do my best to accommodate. Comfort is of great importance so if you feel your health is compromised at any time, please feel free to express yourself.
After the treatment
In order to ensure that you receive the full benefit of the massage you may receive some self-care instructions. For example, keeping hydrated is very important to reducing post-massage stiffness that may occur. Epsom salts can also be advised after an especially deep massage to aid in the healing process. You may also be given a particular series of stretches to perform that target certain muscle groups that may need lengthening in order to rebalance your posture and aid in pain. If I feel another type of treatment may be beneficial I may refer another practitioner.
Cancelations Full payment is required for treatment if less than 24 hours notice is given.
Non Sexual There is a no tolerance attitude toward sexual talk or implications.
Open Communication I encourage open communication and ask that if you feel your health is being compromised at any point to express yourself freely.
